BINGO was a 51 month Horizon 2020 Climate Action project launched in July 2015.

BINGO aimed at providing practical knowledge and tools to end users, water managers, decision and policy makers affected by climate change to enable them to better cope with all climate projections, including droughts and floods. The focus was on six regions across Europe – in Cyprus, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Spain.

The final message from the Project Coordinator

Dear Bingolians, dear Reader

We have reached the end of our H2020 BINGO ´s three months extension period and we are now finalizing the project´s Final Technical and Financial Report.

Again a very busy, dynamic and enjoyable time that demonstrates how the BINGO team’s communication easily flows and how we are experienced to act and react in a soft and reliable mode. Yet again, we have fully accomplished the development of further activities to increase the project´s impact and outreach: the BINGO e-book, 4 Policy- Briefs, a couple of additional dissemination events and the procedure to produce a special issue of the NHESS (Natural Hazards and Earth-System-Sciences) Journal on “Integrated assessment of climate change impacts at selected European research sites – from climate and hydrological hazards to risk analysis and measures”, mainly grounded on BINGO scientific outcomes.

We all wish our work can continue to contribute to future advances and to support further developments upon the path left by BINGO. We hope our guidelines inspire others and that our outcomes can be useful for other work – then we will have achieved our goal!

And finally, the journey is always more important than the end product and in our journey we gained in knowledge sharing, enthusiasm, respect and friendship.

It has been, in all, five remarkable years together.

Let us hope that you take this journey with us, the BINGO team, and all together we can build a better water future under climate change.

BINGO IS OVER… HOW DID IT GO?

We could write many pages about the BINGO journey (and we did on our e-book)… but we made it more fun for you and turned it into a video series!

Click on the images below to embark on your journey into the BINGO story and results.

What Now?

Our project is over, so what now? Well, now you have a lot of ways to access all the knowledge and expertise produced by BINGO:

E-BOOK

We produced an e-book which presents the experience, methodologies and results of the BINGO project. In here you can find ALL things BINGO.

FRESH NEW WEBSITE

Because our website is now the ultimate repository of everything we produced, it needed a new fresh look. Now you can navigate more intuitively through all the BINGO knowledge, experience and results and get in contact with us when there is anything you cannot find!

DO YOU WANT TO PLAY… BINGO WHO?

And because BINGO is all about finding innovative ways of transferring knowledge – or maybe we just like to have some fun with our project – we have a challenge for you: the BINGO WHO? Game. You think you know everything about BINGO? Play our game and see how much you learned with us!

While you’re at it – check out the Fun and Games section of our website. We have some cartoons, performances and games just for you!

What Is Our Legacy?

With all said and done, what will stay? What knowledge do we leave to the community?

BINGO GUIDELINES

If you closely follow BINGO, you already know about it – our guidelines are a key output of the project that can help you implement any of the methodologies developed by BINGO. From applying hydro models to implementing successful communities of practice, you can find step-by-step guides on how you can replicate our methodologies!

PUBLICATIONS

From these 4 years of work, many reports and scientific publications were produced, covering all the main topics of the project:

  • Climate predictions and downscaling to extreme weather
  • Integrated analysis of the water cycle
  • Assessment of the impacts of extreme weather events
  • Developing risk treatment and adaptation strategies for extreme weather events
  • Ensuring Excellence and Actionable Research

You can find it all in our “Resources” section in our website.

BINGO GAME

The BINGO team has developed a game of bingo about the BINGO project (yes, we FINALLY made the obvious joke!) that has been used in several dissemination activities. The BINGO project game uses cards with sorted numbers that are distributed by the participants and these numbers are sorted in a random way by a game pivot till someone fulfils its card, just like a traditional bingo game.

We created a version to be used in COP’s and just for fun, and which can be downloaded in our website.
